Provide a non-intrusive means for the initial screening of ADHD to be used universally in the same way children are screened for vision or other common health problems
Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a neurobehavioural disorder with an estimated 6% of school children and 3% of adults diagnosed. It stops people from people from academic and professional success and leads to offending - 50% of prison population has ADHD. A psychiatrist diagnoses ADHD using questionnaires (a clinical diagnosis requires a consultant’s 8 hours), or automated tools like QbTest. While there are tools (like QbTest) to automate diagnosis of ADHD these are useful only when a person reaches the diagnostics stage. Consequently, there are cases of undiagnosed ADHD which are not treated and also cases of children given ADHD medication without proper diagnosis
We intend to create a non-intrusive, reliable tool to perform initial ADHD screening. This would identify children that should further go under a diagnostics procedure.
Current studies have shown that ADHD screening can be simply achieved by monitoring use of a computer, particularly mouse and keyboard events.
We are building such an application whose outcome would be non-binding result but an indication or prompt to follow the ADHD diagnostics route.

At the end we expect to have adequate expertise to proceed on the next phase with a proper clinical trial
Target group and social impact
The target group are young people regardless of their inclination to ADHD. This approach aims to provide a universal screening with no exclusions. Proper detection of ADHD can have a tremendous impact on a person’s life. Amongst others, experts claim that up to 70% of those with ADHD will be treated for depression at some point in their lives. There is therefore a societal requirement for the ADHD screening of the population .
