Organic Networks in Community-led Development
 Posted on 01/04/2014 - 23:39
Idea Outline
Architecting instruments necessary for systemic changes and community-led development - online platform of resilient organic networks to mobilize and interconnect Intentional Communities oriented towards sustainable and harmonious lifestyles.

The Challenge
We perceive an evidence of Systemic Crisis on all levels: [Personal level] 1.Social alienation and loneliness; 2.Gap between real life engagement and virtual communication. [Social level] 1.Missing of community sense, disengagement from collective responsibilities; 2.Despite the wide use of social networks and online tools, it is still difficult to reach responsible participation and engagement for the issues that matter; 3.Existing social groups lose the sense of commitment and become dysfunctional when the group size grows unlimited and dilutes its initial ideas. [Global level] 1.Crisis of democracy: rigidness of command-and-control organizations and absence of synergy of bottom-up organizations; 2.Absence of systemic wholeness and the perspective of interdependent ecosystem.

The Solution

Our innovative approach fosters the formation of organic social graph with the genome of natural organization - fractal stacking and interconnection of resilient and flexible networks.

The online platform will host compact micro-groups linked as small communities within expansive community networks. Specific online tools will be implemented:
- Public profiles for persons, groups and communities with different access levels
- Interactive web and mobile interfaces to represent the organic social graph
- Specific Inter-group communication, video hangout and SMS functions
- Online decision making boards specific for each group or community level
- Needs and offers board to exchange community goods

The award will be used to implement the pre-prototype of the online platform.

Target group and social impact
The on-line platform can be applicable in different areas, but we are focused on Intentional Communities in Europe (permaculture, sustainable lifestyle, personal development, etc). We intend to pilot with several communities with the following impact expectations: 1. Forming specific micro-groups - to guarantee continuous engagement even on personal level; 2. Interlinking micro-groups that share a common cause and involving group coaches to facilitate online team building - to guarantee the emergence of a thriving community; 3. Forming balanced hierarchies of decision making that enable accurate representation of voices on different levels – an exemplar of community-led digital democracy; 4. Linking up different intentional communities - to build a sustainable social ecosystem.

Excellent projet, dont la réalisation peut tout à fait être une collaboration entre plusieurs pôles de recherche universitaire.
    Bon courage!

This project will make a great difference in the way civil society groups interact with each other.
    I hope you succeed!

Could students in school use it too?
I think this a great idea.
    good luck!

The idea is a great one. Fostering social network at micro-level can have a huge impact on societal behavior to reach a common goal where people understands each other best with harmony for a peaceful coexistence. It will also enable people to live a more purposeful and meaningful life with consideration for each other well being and the common good.

    I wish you success !

    Idea Submitter

I have discovered Sally Goerner’s work “The Emerging Science and Culture of Integral Society” that indicates similar concepts:

“We are emerging from a long dominator era into one that demands mutuality. The dominator (hierarchical) mode appears strong, but in reality is too slow to respond to the crisis of the time. Mutualism, on the other hand, is liable to be too fragile in the face of dominator pressures: the only way to resist these, based on intricacy, "is for small circles to join hands in a collaborative network that is broader and tighter than anything domination can provide."

    I think it's a great idea!

This concept is a response to 21st century human need for non egocentric behaviour and action facing challenges.
This is the new philosophy that should be spread.
This is also about educating new generations on an alternative way for collective development in a collective action.
I appreciate a lot the concept.
