Explore is a social media on concept level that encourages people to have fulfilling experiences in everyday life. It’s a tool where one can get inspired through real life stories, experience local & global and share the best moments with others.
Everyday life is seen today in many welfare societies as something hectic we need to escape from every now and then to gather strength and memories to share. What if we could create a life we wouldn’t have to escape from? With Explore we are inspiring people to think differently, to change their attitute towards travelling but also everyday life, so that it can become fulfilling and bring more value on a daily basis. Explore is tackling with social change, trying to improve quality of life and decrease the traditional all-inclusive travelling that often has a negative impact on local culture & nature. The idea about sustainable obligations needs to be changed to opportunities that are self-evident. Explore supports to civic empowerment and prosperity.
Explore is a social media where people can get inspired and share their most valuable moments. A person (let’s say Martina) using Explore can find things to experience in her own neighbourhood or abroad, and read about experiences that both locals and travellers have shared. This gives Martina new perspectives, insights and the need to experience herself. If her experience is great, she will also have the need to share the story and again give inspiration to another person to both explore and share top moments on Explore. It’s a tool to find inspiration to take a moment and enjoy everyday. An open source of authentic stories. A way to create interaction between people, in order to change attitudes.
Target group and social impact
The target group consists of people that are so called prosumers; an information producing and consuming person, who uses internet to inform oneself and create information. Most social media users are prosumers and they would create the core users of Explore. Ones launched it would reach out to a bigger audience because of its open source stories that every human can recognise themself in. Potential benefits would on long-term be a decrease in tourism as the boundary between daily life and holiday would be less explicit. This would have a positive impact on the environment. Other benefits would be a more sustainable lifestyle (economic, ecologic and social) through daily moments of fulfillment and higher quality of life as well as development of an active and initiative-taking society.
Competences of the applicant
Martina Dahm is a freshly graduated designer who wants through design improve life and sustainable development in our societies. Explore is the ambitious outcome of her Bachelor’s thesis. Arto Sivonen is a creative designer and he is running the sustainable design firm Måndag, which focuses on building concepts for new urban living through marketing and design.
